everybody says she's lookin' goodAND THE LADY KNOWS ITS UNDERSTOODSTRUTTER Cori, after having instructed her 'people' where her luggage was supposed to go, and had finally extracted herself from her mother, strutted onto the train, looking for an empty compartment. She found one, right at the back. Smiling, she opened the door, and sat down on one of the seats, closest to the window so she could look out at everything.
While happy to be going back to school, and being with her friends, she was also dreading the classes, and the other prisonlike things that happened at that place. She sighed, wandering where her friends were.

Cassie walked down the corridor of the train, looking for Al. Having gone all the way along the train, she realised that he hadn't yet arrived. Then she spotted Cori, already sitting in a compartment, as if she was holding court... even though no-one else was there. Sighing, she went into the compartment. Hopefully Al would look for them when he got here. She nodded to Cori, dropped her shoulder bag on the seat, and placed the cage she was carrying carefully beside it. She'd persuaded her aunt to let her buy an owl of her own. That way, next holidays she'd be able to send owls to Al even if his idiot father confiscated Al's owl again. She poked her finger through the bars, and the magnificent barred owl blinked and nibbled on her finger. Cassie grinned, remembering the look on her aunt's face when she annouced that she was calling her new pet Azkaban, then sat down, looking out of the window, trying to spot Al on the platform.

is this a big, big mistake?OR IS THIS SOMETHING GOOD? Jessika wandered onto the platform behind her mother. Everyone parted the way for the Lestranges. Sara had never told Jessika exactly why, suddenly, her father was in St Mungos, and it had all been kept kind of hush hush. Well, at the beginning, by now everyone knew. It was kinda annoying.
Finally reaching the train, Sara stopped and turned to her daughter. "Have fun, be good, you know the drill." Jessika nodded. "Okay. See you mum. Love you," she murmured. The two tall, bronze women hugged, then Jessika climbed onto the train, looking for a compartment. She found one, and sat at the window and waved at her mother, who was still standing there. She hoped Daemon would look for her when he got on the train. Would be really lonely without him.

Daemon gave his mother a hug, and climbed onto the train. Cassie had vanished within moments of arriving at the station, which suited Daemon just fine. He was tired of her sulking and tantrums. His mother had said they had to be tolerant, and remember that Cassie had just lost her mother, but as far as Daemon could see, his cousin was behaving exactly as usual, and had shown no sign that she missed her mother.
He strolled along the corridor, ostensibly looking for an empty compartment, but actually looking for some one in particular. His heart gave a little jolt, as he saw the girl sitting by herself. He hesitated, then opened the door of the compartment and went in.
"Hi, Jessika," he said. "Uh... good summer?" That was such a lame opening... but he couldn't think of anything else.

Cori looked up as someone entered the compartment. She gave Cassie a slight smile at the younger girl's nod. They sat in silence for a few moments, both looking out the window at the platform. The brunette sighed. "So, Cassie, how were your holidays? I hear your aunt practically treated you like a house elf..." Sure, that was wrong, but hey... it was fun to bait the crazy kid. Cassie looked up as Cori spoke, her lip curling slightly. "I suppose one could say that... though I wouldn't put it quite so crudely," she said coolly. It figured, that the older girl would be snotty to her - look at the way she'd apparently written to Al. Cassie would never call Al a whiner. It wasn't whining if it was true, she told herself. She pretended to look out of the window again, but surreptitiously eyed Cori out the corner of her eye. The girl was so... curvy. Cassie didn't like her own skinny physique, even though it was a Mercer characteristic. She'd already realised that having a stunnning figure gave a girl an extra advantage.

"Oh. That must have been... ummm... difficult," Daemon said, wishing he could say something that didn't sound lame. Everyone knew that Jessika's dad was currently in St Mungo's in one of the closed wards. "Ummm, how's he doing these days?"
When she asked about his own summer, he shrugged. "It was okay. My cousin's living with us now, she's not very happy about it. She spent a lot of time writing letters, so at least she's got some friends, I guess."
Trying to lighten the mood a bit, he said, "So, what NEWTs are you going to be studying? Maybe we're in some of the same classes."

Cori kept a smile on her face as Cassie spoke. "Oh, okay. Sorry. She had you doing chores though right... things the elves should be doing.... Do you even have elves?" she asked, as if not having house elves was completely degrading to a person. The older girl put her back to the window, swinging her legs up onto the seat. She sighed, stretching out slightly. She was a little bored, to be honest. Cassie nodded. "Yes, I had to do chores. We don't have elves - almost everything my aunt owned was confiscated after the second war. My uncle died fighting for the Dark Lord," she said. "She was forced to give the elves clothes." All they'd left her was that awful house beside the river. She clenched her jaw slightly as Cori stretched out on the seat. She was sure the older girl was doing it deliberately, to show off her shapely legs. She glanced fretfully out of the window. "Have you seen Al?" she asked abruptly.

"He's okay. I guess. I think it was like a delayed effect of Azkaban... he's just gone completely loopy," Jessika murmured softly, shrugging her shoulders. "Oh... Cassie's living with you? Oh... that's gotta be hard..." she responded. She couldn't imagine living with the younger girl. Like ever! "Uhm.... Potions, Transfiguration, Arithmancy and DADA... You?" she asked. Daemon grinned. "Yeah, she's not exactly a little ray of sunshine," he said. He listened as Jessika listed the subjects she was taking. "Hey! I'm taking all those too! Plus Astronomy - my mum used to teach it at Hogwarts, so she wants me to take it." He smiled at Jessika. "Ummm... maybe we could be study partners," he suggested. That would be amazing - he'd really enjoy studying if Jessika was studying with him.
