The Restricted Section

Far in the back of the library you see shelves of books that students are not permitted to enter. In here you will find books of any dark or forbidden subjects but be careful and don't get caught.

Miles looked around wearily to make sure no one was watching and tapped his wand against the lock to the restricted section. The gate opened with a slight squeak and he froze making sure no one was coming to investigate. He was oddly pleased that no one seemed to be in the library today. Inching his way in he left the gate slightly a jar and went searching through the shelves for a specific book. It's a pity Ivan wouldn't come. They have tons of books in here. He fingered some of the spines as he continued to search.

Rose walked into the Library, wondering if Miles could possibly be in here. She'd looked everywhere else, and couldn't find him. She just wanted to get his over with. She smiled when she saw him, then frowned when she noticed he was going into the Restricted Section, she sighed, looked around, then hurried after him, opening the gate slowly, making sure it didn't make a noise. She smiled when it didn't, then closed it behind her. Looking around, she scrunched her nose up at some of the books. She caught up with him.
"Miles?" she whispered. "Can I ask you something?"

Miles kept searching but stopped every now and then as he pulled a book off the shelf and flipped through the pages carefully. The sheer history in this library amazed hm it was much larger than his library back home. He had just set the book back on the shelf when he heard someone whispering behind him. He spun around with his wand drawn in a flash his heart racing. As he saw who it was he relaxed and put his wand away, "Geez Rose you scared me half to death." He continued his perusal of the shelves and glanced at her curiously as he whispered back, "Sure what is it?"

Rose jumped as Miles swung around, his wand drawn. She raised her hands in front of her, trying not to burst out laughing. "Umm. You know my cousin Lily," she began. How the hell was she supposed to ask him. "She wants to know whether you'll go to Hogsmeade with her this weekend." she whispered quickly. It sounded stupid.

Miles continued to look through the books as Rose spoke, "Do I know your cousin. She only spends more time trying to skip potions than anyone I know. She woke me up in the common room one day while she was skivving granted I was too...." He trailed off as he grabbed a book off the shelf and put it back with a sigh. He turned toward Rose with an eyebrow raised, "She wants to know what? Well...I had planned on dragging Ivan with me to look for passageways again but I'm sure that he probably has already found someone to go with so he doesn't have to..." He looked Rose in the eye and frowned curiously, "Why does she want to go with me? So she can hear more lectures about not skivving, how potions isn't all bad, and my many attempts to get Ivan to be my test dummy? I hardly think I'm fit company for her."

Rose groaned. "Ugh. I told Lily I wouldn't tell." She sighed. "Okay. Miles, she likes you. Like, she like likes you. Ugh. This sounds stupid." she said, shaking her head. "She has a crush on you and she asked me to ask you to go to Hogsmeade with her," she said quickly. "To be honest, I think she'll put up with the lectures, just because they're coming from you."

Miles looked at Rose curiously as she said she promised she wouldn't tell. The astounded look on his face probably said it all. "She....?" He shook his head trying to wrap his mind around it. He had always viewed Lily as more of his sister and the age gap probably didn't help matters. "Rose, she's thirteen. I mean I like her, she's nice and we have fun messing with Ivan but I think of her more as a sister. I'm not sure I can...." He sighed and his jaw twitched in his habitual nervous reaction. He looked at Rose helplessly as he really had no clue what to do. "Tell her...tell her I'll go with her. As friends." He gazed at the books around him and then looked at Rose, "Would that be alright?"

Rose smiled. "That's fine!" she exclaimed quietly. "Absolutely fine. It'll get her off my back." She smiled again, and gave Miles a hug. "Thanks Miles. Well, I guess I'll see you later than," she chuckled, flashing him another smile, before making her way quietly out of the Library.

Miles stared at Rose as she said it was fine and hugged him. He continued to stare at her as she walked off. Now what the hell am I supposed to do? His jaw twitched again, Oh dear lord. How is this going to work? Am I supposed to act like I don't know or...gah! With a sigh he set the book in his hands down on the shelf and headed out of the library in need of some fresh air.
