Emmily smirked and then laughed. "Thank you," she said having some more of her Butterbeer. She shrugged her shoulders. "It's funny, he kept trying until almost the end of my second year. That's when he realised that I wouldn't look at him in any other way other than an annoying friend." She didn't know what girls saw in him. Girly girl she may be, but she wasn't a stupid blonde one. "I feel sorry for you though, you have to watch him in lessons making an ass out of himself."

It usually takes a brick to knock some sense into him and you should see how he acts when girls flat out refuse him and try with Miles instead. I swear Miles as oblivious to girls as much as Ivan is aware of them." He shook his head and took a sip of his drink. "It's not so bad then, serves for a good laugh when they turn him down though from what I have seen not many do. In fact...I think you're the first girl I've seen that seems impervious to his 'charm'."

"Well..." Emmily began biting her lip at the mention of the a brick wall being needed to stop Ivan. Then she laughed, "no this only took me telling him to stop being a jerk. I think he is, but then I guess with Ivan as a cousin, not as many go to him as they do to Ivan." She did feel kind of sorry for Miles having to put up with Ivan, but at the same time, Miles was always bugging Ivan to do something with him. She continued listening to Antony, surprised that he was still talking to her. "Yeah most people seem to like what he can offer, whatever that is. I probably am, but when you have a mother like mine who thinks her looks are the best things out there, you learn to ignore others who are exactly the same."

Antony laughed, "I'm surprised he listened." He felt more relaxed now with Emmily than he had before, talking about a friend both of them thought was an idiot at times. "Yes, well I don't feel sorry for Miles. If he opened his eyes a bit he'd see that there were girls who liked him right in front of him but I don't think he cares much." He shrugged and took another sip of his butterbeer, "Wise, I'm probably the same way since Ivan and I go way back. They say growing up with someone you tend to act like that. I think I went out of my way to not be Ivan. I've hear how his mum yells at him at times. Now there's one lady you wouldn't want to cross, along with Miles' mum."

"Okay so the threat of not being able to sit down for a week or two may have helped," Emmily admitted twirling a loose curl round her finger before putting it behind her ear. She had to admit, her doubts that Antony would be just like Ivan had all been demolished. "I haven't really met him. Heard Ivan complain about him, seen him in the corridors, and know him through gossip. He seems a bit of a bookworm really." She grinned and nodded. "Mmmm well I'm glad you're not like Ivan otherwise I'd be sitting here alone thinking that both of you were idiots instead of just one." The prospects of mothers caused her to shake her head. "I think mothers are just there to try and make you mini clones of themselves. And then if you don't, they get angry and call you an extreme dissapointment who brings shame to the family name."

Antony laughed as she spoke and watched as she twirled her hair. His mind seemed to have wandered off as he watched her and he missed the first part of her comment about Miles. Clearing his throat he nodded and took a sip of butterbeer, "He is a bookworm. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I think if Ivan wasn't trying so desperately hard to not be Miles he probably would be one as well. He's smart...he just chooses not to use it." He looked at her again and shrugged, "If he wasn't always trying to hit on you you'd see he isn't an idiot. It frustrates me really because we could be sitting here having a conversation and if a girl walks in it's like his IQ dropped a hundred points." Shaking his head he pursed his lips and then nodded in agreement, "I think you're right about that."

Emmily looked at him as he cleared his throat and wondered if anything was wrong. It didn't seem to be as he continued talking. "I don't know. Some girls like bookworms cause it means they're smart, but too much of a bookworm and you start to borderline on the nerd description." That was how most girls in her year viewed bookworms. She nodded her head as he explained about Ivan. She'd seen it happen whenever Cori was around. "I know which is even worse because although he's always trying to hit on me, I know he's a good guy. And although I have fun teasing him, I'd like to tease him about being smart as well." If that made any sense at all. "Is his IQ even over 100?" she asked grinning although she knew it was. It would be slightly worrying if it wasn't.

He laughed again and shook his head, "I think about half the time it is. The other half he isn't thinking with his head so I'm sure it's well below that...well unless you're giving him an IQ test on the opposite sex in which case he's a bleeding genius then. Personally his ways never appealed to me. He's tried several times to get me to 'play the field'." He shrugged and took a sip of his butterbeer, "I say if they can't hold an intelligent conversation they aren't worth my time. No matter how good looking they are."

Emmily giggled and finished off her Butterbeer before shrugging. "I don't know. Basically what you just said really. Someone who will do well in school, but at the same time is up for adventures and will occasionally break the rules." She was a Slytherin after all, breaking rules once in a while was a natural for her. Hearing his remarks on Ivan's IQ caused her to laugh again. "Well that's understandable. With girls on the brain all the time I'm not surprised. What's your IQ?" she asked curiously raising an eyebrow. She nodded in understanding as Antony talked about 'playing the field'. That had been her one peeve recently. "Hint why I'm not giving any of my time to Ivan," she said with a smile.
