You are greeted by a wide, airy room. One of the most graceful rooms in Hogwarts in fact. Arched windows show the grounds for many miles, the giant lake, the forest, mountains in the distance. Blue and bronze silk are the only thing that stands in the way of a perfect view. The domed ceiling is painted with stars, a midnight blue carpet muffles your steps. All around you are tables, chairs and book shelves. Across from the door is a statue and the beauty of it astounds you. In immortal white marble is the likeness of a lovely woman. Her smile is challenging, a small diadem sits on her head. The likeness of Rowena Ravenclaw. On either side of her is a wood door. On one "boys" is written on a bronze plaque with blue ink. On the other it says "girls" in the same fashion. You have entered the Ravenclaw common room. "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure."
Note: I took the description of the common room from page 587 of HP&tDH and switched in around a bit. Mostly it's JK's words though.

Jezabel lounged on the sofa, the novel she was currently reading propped up on her legs, as she dozed. She wasn't in the most responsive mood, and was tired. All this trying to behave was a hassle. She still didn;t understand why she had to all of a sudden not make herself known around her. That was just Jezabel's way of doing things. She sighed, shifting a little on the couch, to make herself more comfortable, making her hair spill over the arm of the chair, and her petticoat-skirt spread out around her thighs. School was boring when she had to behave.
