As they had a few times before, Sara and Jessika apparated into the main upstairs study of Lestrange Manor. Without speaking, they turned to face each other to begin the lesson in controlling Jessika's Elemental powers. Sara scrutinised her daughter's distracted look, a frown on her face.
"Jess, what's wrong?" she asked softly.
Jessika looked up at her mother, and suddenly she was angry. "You guys have completely stuffed up my life. You've made me into an Elementalist that's out of control, and Dad's ruined my love life! What in the world did I do to deserve this!"
Sara raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean your father has ruined your love life?" she asked. There was nothing she could do about the Elementalist bit. It wasn't even Sara's fault she was what she was.

As suddenly as Jessika's anger had flared up, it was gone. She wasn't entirely sure how to talk to her mother about this. "Uhm... Well, I started dating Daemon Blackthorn..." Her body tingled and heated at the thought, but it kind of grossed her out. "And ... well... he said that his mum told him we were brother and sister... because his dad is my dad."
Sara sighed, and walked back over to Jessika, guiding her to a chair. When they were both seated on the sofa, mother and daughter looked at each other, daughter expectant, mother struggling to find the right words. "When I met your father again, just before you were born, I had just come out of ... well I suppose you could call it exile, but I was living with my coven while I sorted some things out. I uhhh... I was the matriarchal leader, so it was expected of me to be in a relationship with a prominent male ... you know all that reproduction stuff... Well, I was in a relationship with one of them." She took a deep breath.

"Continue," Jessika prompted. Her mother never really soke much about before she remet her father. And Jess always loved a story, especially when it obviously would eventually pertain to her.
Sara sighed. "I - When I got pregnant with you, I was ecstatic. When I was with Rabastan when I was sixteen, we were expecting, but I lost it, so the thought of having a baby with him was incredibly lovely. Everything was fine, until you started setting things on fire by accident. We both still loved you, and I was lucky that he didn't know how our particular strain of Fyre Elementalists are made." She bit her lip. "We're only made by two pure Elementalist parents."
Jessika's eyes widened. "So... I - Wait so I'm confused..."
"You're a Lestrange in name, because I am, and because I never told anyone. But your father isn't Rabastan Lestrange. It's a Fyre Elementalist named Tyran. I suppose he knows about you, but I - I couldn't tell anyone... Your father... Rabastan... he is or was a very powerful and dangerous man and I didn't want to anger him any more than I already had."

"So, uhm, what you're saying is that my dad isn't Rabastan Lestrange, so me and Daemon don't have the same father?" Jessika asked, trying not to be excited.
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying," Sara replied.
"Yes! Thank god you had to do a duty!" Jessika jumped up and hugged her mum.
