Daemon walked slowly towards the Paddock. He'd given a note to a passing first year to give to Jessika, asking her to meet him here. What she'd do when she heard he didn't like to think. But it was better to get it over with as soon as possible.
He stopped and leaned against the wooden fence. He felt sick again. He hoped he'd get through this meeting without puking again.

Utterly confused by Daemon's note, and how it had been delivered, Jessika made her way from the castle, to the paddock. She had no idea what was going on, and when she saw Daemon, and his slumped over body language, it made her dread what he had to say. When she reached him, and saw his face, it really didn't make her feel any better.
"Daemon... what's up?" she murmured cautiously.

Daemon looked up as Jessika approached. His stomach lurched, and for a moment he thought he was going to be sick again. He swallowed hard, and turned to face her. Thank god she didn't try to kiss him.
"Ummm, Jess, I - I have to tell you something. My mum just came to talk to me, she, umm, she says we - we mustn't go out any more. We can't..." He faltered, suddenly finding himself horrifying close to tears.

When Daemon began talking, Jessika shook her head. "Wh-What? Your mum said we can't be together and you - you're listening? I - Why?" Her voice was a pitch higher than normal, and almost kind of frantic. It just didn't sound right.

Daemon nodded miserably. "Yes. She's not... it's not... it's not that she doesn't want us to be together, it's that we can't be together. It's wrong." He knew he wasn't explaining it well, but he just hated to actually put it into words himself. But Jess wouldn't understand unless he did.
"She - she said - she told me we can't because... because my dad is Rabastan Lestrange. You're my - my sister!"

The way he was talking, it really wasn't doing much to make her feel any better. "Wrong..." she murmured. But when the big news came out, she gasped, and took a couple steps back. "We're... Oh my god. I - I - We slept together... This is disgustingly messed up!" she wiped her hands over her face, then ran one through her hair. This news was not going to help the control she'd been learning over the past week. She could feel her body starting to heat up. "Maybe... Maybe she's ... I don't know what I'm trying to say..."

Daemon saw the horror creep onto Jessika's face, as she stepped away from him. But even at that distance she could feel the heat that was rolling off her. Despite her faltering words, he knew what she was trying to say, and he shook his head.
"She was telling the truth. She was crying. My mother never cries!"
He couldn't bear to look at her any more, and he turned away, feeling close to tears himself. "We have to stay away from each other now," he said. "I'm - I'm gonna ask her to send me to another school next term. Durmstrang..."
As the son of a famous Death Eater, they'd fall over themselves to take him.

When he swore black and blue his mother was telling the truth, Jessika could see the truth in his words. But she really didn't want to. He looked away from her and said he was going to ask his mum to transfer him to Durmstrang. She shook her head quickly.
"Daemon... No, don't do that. Don't move away.... Please..."

"I can't bear to stay here," Daemon choked. "Not now... seeing you every day and knowing we can't be together... and what we already did..." His stomach gave a heave, and he swallowed hard. His whole body seemed to be reacting to this nightmare.
He began to walk away, he didn't care where he was going. He'd told Jess, and now he had to be on his own.

Jessika had nothing else to say. All she knew was that her heart was now breaking. When Daemon walked off, Jess gasped out a sob, and wrapped her arms around herself, as if she was trying to keep herself together. Continuing to watch Daemon\'s retreating back until he was out of her sight, finally she turned away and walked back up to the castle. She needed to write a letter.
