Miles watched and listened to Lily smiling slightly as she turned really red. "Well if she wasn't supposed to say then I guess it can be construed as my fault. I sort of pressed the issue." He looked away from Lily thoughtfully. It was odd how his parents being so far apart didn't seem odd yet this was. Of course if his parents got together when they were his age he was sure tons of people would have a few words to say about that. He started eating his food thoughtfully, "You know...I never did see you only as a friend." Oh, what are you doing Ivan told you NOT to do this. "I mean, well I viewed you more as a sister. But because there isn't really a category for someone who I like to be around and who'll put up with all me." He took another bite of his food still not looking at Lily, "It's kind of flattering really. But...there is the age thing. Have I ever told you how far apart my own parents are in age? Almost 15 years. But they met when he was pushing 50." He realized he was talking more to himself than to her. Saying his thoughts out loud and instantly stopped talking. He turned his head and looked at her, "I'm not really one who wants to get killed by your father. So I think it's best if we stay friends. But...who knows what might happen in a few years. Though I'm sure you'll probably meet someone far better than me who doesn't drone on constantly. As Ivan put it, if I spent more time out of the library I might actually go on a date with someone but as that's who I am I don't see that changing soon."
Deciding to change the subject he went back to his food with a smile. At her confession he didn't seem as nervous as he had been. Well it's Lily, you've been her friend since she first started. A bad influence too I might add. He smirked and looked at her, "So what's the plan for Hogsmeade? Do you want to go check out the shrieking shack? Or spend a small fortune at the joke shop so we can mess with Ivan later? Or maybe even both." His smirk grew into a smile as he laughed.

Lily shook her head, Rose had told her that Miles was going to press the issue, she just hadn't believe it. Her ears perked up as he said he'd never seen her just as a friend, maybe there was hope after all. Or maybe you're just being silly the voice in her voice told her as he said it was more like a sister. "It's easy to put up with you though. You talk to me as if I'm not three years below you, but as a... I don't know... adultish." She laughed, "That made no sense did it?" Her mind barely followed his speech although it did listen to part of it. The rest of it was thinking about what her brothers would say. Turned out Miles was thinking the same thing. "True and considering who my father is, I think he'd be able to get away with it as well." She raised her head even more and sat up properly again, "Friends is alright. I told Rose I wouldn't mind that either in all honesty. A few years and you'll be gone, but I'd rather have a friendship than something that'll ruin it." She giggled hearing his next comment, "Ivan's right though, you really need to spend time out of the library. You're almost as bad as my Aunt Hermoine."
She ate some more of her food before smiling. "Um... don't know. Spending a fortune at Zonkos sounds good and so does messing with Ivan." She couldn't help it, pranks were part of who she was. She had George Weasley as an uncle and James as a brother! "Isn't the Shrieking Shack meant to be scary though?"

Miles turned slightly red at her comment and his head jerked slightly. Stupid nervous habits. It's a good thing I don't play poker. "It makes sense. And well...you are, 'adultish'. If you can follow my ramblings you're more than adult enough." He laughed and shook his head, "Oh, that's just comforting Lil. Though your da and my mum, now there's a match I'd pay to see." He frowned thoughtfully at her comment, "That's not what I..." He shook his head, "Nevermind." Maybe it's best if she thinks that. He wasn't sure why but the fact that she thought that a relationship would ruin their friendship bothered him. He smirked, "Well you're in there as much as I am come to think of it. Books are...simpler. They're straight forward, no hidden meanings, and no chance of getting hurt. Well unless one falls on you I suppose."
He shrugged and pushed his food around again, "It's just a myth. Though I'm sure any building that stays empty has its scary aspects. Unless you're scared of a little dust?" he added giving her a nudge with his shoulder. "So, I say we go to the Shack first and then Zonkos. That way if you get scared I can make you laugh after. Is that alright?" He really wanted to check out the Shrieking Shack. In all of his years here he had spent almost every Hogsmeade being dragged around by Ivan or in the castle. This would be the first one where he was free from both.

Lily grinned as Miles said she was 'adultish' enough. "Your ramblings are easy to follow, as long as I'm not in a mood, or as long as they're not on a boring topic like potions." She laughed and shrugged her shoulders, "What? It's the truth and we both know it. Hmmm yeah I would to actually. I think the only three people who I know could go against him are my mum, aunt and uncle." Her eyes looked at him confused but then shook it off as something to do with something she didn't want to know about. "I'm not!" she exclaimed, although she was probably in there more than the rest of her siblings. "Try having Hogwarts A History land on your head. That gives you a headache for weeks. But I know what you mean. It's nice outside though as well, otherwise you go extremely pale." "Of course I'm scared of dust," Lily said playfully laughing as she was nudged. "But I'll go with you as long as you promise to make me laugh later and that you won't leave me in the shack," she said agreeing to it. She knew what the Shack used to be for, but it still seemed haunted even without Remus there. "Oh and I want to go to Honeydukes if that's alright."

Miles laughed at Lily's comment, "Oh, but Potions isn't boring. Just think without potions we wouldn't be able to do a lot of the stuff we can today..." He took a breath and acted like he was about to go into a speech and then stopped with a smirk. He listened to her as he ate a few more bites and then laughed, "You know...Rose found me in the library. I think that's the first time I've seen her in there." He glanced at her meaningfully and then smiled, "Are you talking from experience or hypothetical? Hmm...maybe Ivan should have used that more to persuade me than getting dates. I might listen to him more if he did." "Well then we'll have to fix that. I'll be sure to get you duster when we go." He nodded, "Of course I won't leave you there. I'm not Ivan or your brothers and laughter...is always the cure for everything." He grinned and shrugged, "Fine by me I like sweets as much as anyone else. So a small fortune at Zonkos and then a small fortune at Honeydukes. Sounds like the perfect outing."

Lily raised her eyebrows in the same way her mother did when she knew one of them was lying. She listened and then seeing that he was about to go off on a longwinded speech about it plugged her ears. She frowned at his smirk and stuck her tounge out at him. "That's not funny Miles," she said. "Rose in the Library? Rose as in strawberry blonde hair, Weasley freckles, Gryffindor? She never goes in there!" That was a first and if it wasn't for the fact Lily loved Rose, she'd tease her about it for ages. She grinned, "Experience. It fell on my head during the first year and after that I knew to spend time outside as well."
She laughed, "thanks cause I've always wanted a duster you know." Who was she kidding she hated cleaning anything that needed cleaning got left until the last minute. "I'm glad your not my brothers to be honest, I've got enough of those already. And if you were Ivan you wouldn't be in Gryffindor, so I'm glad about that too." Thinking for a moment she nodded, "Yup perfect plan. I'm going to need a large fortune to split into two small ones. Time to go and be a darling angel to my brothers and cousins."

Rose flitted into the Great Hall and over to the Gryffindor Table, floating to her seat. She smiled, and took a plateful of breakfast, and started eating elegantly, as usual. Reading the paper, sipping her coffee, and eating her eggs. A morning routine. She got that from Ron. But, this morning, she looked happier, brighter, if that were possible. She seemed almost to glow. She was so happy. The only thing that could dampen her mood ... her family.

After having heard Rose getting up, Lily had hurried out of bed and had rushed getting ready, hoping to catch her cousin before her brothers did. Entering the Great Hall she spotted Rose in her normal seat at the table and quickly sat next to her, putting some fruit salad into a bowl and got some cinnamon toast. "I'm going to kill Hugo just to let you know," she said as a greeting before taking a sip of her orange juice. "So?" she asked, knowing this was probably the only time she'd have before family arrived. "How did it go?" She couldn't help being a little excited for her cousin's happiness, but at the same time she was grateful she wasn't Rose this morning. Nope...she was going to be peace keeper...hopefully.

Rose looked up from the Daily Prophet as Lily sat down beside her. "You have my permission," she replied. As Lily asked her how it went, her smile widened. "Oh it was great. Perfect. The best first date I could have imagined." I never imagined I'd do that on a first date! "Now, all I gotta do, is wait out the yelling when the boys get here. Victoire was really good about it." Her smile was still bright, like she was hiding something.

Lily grinned as she was given permission. "I wasn't really asking for it but thanks now at least I have justification." Seeing that Rose was reading the paper she asked, "Anything good in there? Or is it all boring stuff?" She smiled happily as her cousin said how good her date was. "You promised me details remember," she said pouting a little. The mention of the boys made her roll her eyes. "If it's the same as yesterday's performance I'm going to scream. James and Hugo practically yelled at me in the street, although Victoire was there to stop them." She loved her oldest cousin! Looking at Rose carefully she noticed that her smile was just a little too bright to be considered normal Rose. "Rosie Pose.... you're not telling me something," she said placing her elbows on the table and resting her chin on her hands expectantly.

Rose looked at her cousin, her eyes bright. "I don't know if you want to know the details," she said, grinning. "I - uh - we - uh - mum and dad are going to kill me." was all she said. It was a bit of an awkward subject to talk about at the breakfast table! "I'll give you more details when we aren't in public!" she chuckled.

Lily rolled her eyes, she lived with James. James the sixteen year old that talked about each girl he'd been with and what they did to all his friends. "I'm pretty sure I've heard it all before," she said grinning. She raised an eyebrow and then shrugged her shoulders. "Well I think we all knew that was going to happen anyways. From Uncle Ron anyways." Hearing that she'd be told later she nodded and smiled turning her attention back to her food. It was good food, the cinnamon toast was delicious and she picked up some more from the middle of the table.

Rose laughed. "Yeah, you probably have!" she chuckled. Her eyes widened. "You... thought it would appen? Do you even know what I'm talking about?" she asked. She was a bit concerned that they thought that of her. Really quite concerned. She smiled and turned back to her food, coffee and paper, going on like normal. Her eyes flicked up at the Slytherin Table, trying to look for Scopius. She saw him, Emmily and ... Cori ... around him. She scowled. She sighed. She didn't particularly like this possessive thing she was feeling.

Albus marched up to Rose, trying to even out his breathing. He knew Scorpius hadn't been back to the Slytherin Dorms last night, as they were roommates. And now he had just heard from Hugo (who had heard from James) that Rose hadn't either. He wasn't stupid, he could put two and two together. It made an unsavory conclusion. Scorpius Malfoy wasn't a bad guy, he knew that. He had other reasons to think this match wasn't perfect. For one, it was 20 years after Voldemort had gone, 20 years to little. Neither family would find it acceptable. And something was stirring, he could feel it, even inside himself. Something he suspected Rose a Scorpius would be on the opposite sides of. Even if they wanted to stick together. In a way the Gryffindor- Slytherin relationship was worse then ever. "Rose." he said quietly, though he wanted to shout the words. "Where were you last night." He was starting to scare himself, the low hiss that came out next. Albus wasn't entirely alone in his conscience.

Lily laughed before looking at Rose weirdly. "Did I think what would happen? I'm talking about Uncle Ron killing you because you're seeing Scorpius." What did she think she was on about? Unless....nope Rose wouldn't do that. That would be silly. And it had only been one date. Hearing her cousin sigh she looked up and noticed what she was looking at. "If it helps I know that he and Emmily are just friends. I heard a second year asking someone whether they were going out. Emmily almost hit him."
Lily groaned as Albus walked up to the table after he'd just spoken to Hugo. Honestly her cousin was an idiot sometimes, even if he was older than her. "Al not you too," she moaned. Protective brothers were annoying as hell. She really felt sorry for Rose, but she was in the clear... her trip with Miles was just as friends... for the moment. She heard the hiss at the end of his question she looked at him worriedly. He never hissed unless he was mad and she didn't want him having a spell in the middle of the Great Hall. "Al calm down please. It's not a big deal."
