MOTHER: Solstice Flidae - 62
BIOLOGICAL FATHER: Lucius Malfoy - 68
ADOPTIVE FATHER: Jack Greenwood - 72
SIBLINGS: Brandon Jacob Greenwood - 38
HISTORY:
Family Background
Josh's parents met at Hogwarts - Solstice was a student and Jack was her teacher, but they did not become a couple until after Solstice left school.
Solstice is an Elemental witch, which means that her magic is considerably different from normal. Elementals tend to have certain personality traits which make them a challenge to teach, and following several incidents in her first few weeks at school, Jack Greenwood was hired to teach her on a one-to-one basis. Jack is a Secondary Elemental - his mother was an Elemental, and he inherited some of her magic and personality traits, as well as his father’s normal magic, so he was able to understand Solstice better than a non-Elemental teacher.
It was only when Solstice left school that Jack realized that he had unresolved feelings about her, but he decided not to act on them, as he felt that she would feel influenced by his status as her teacher. It was not until they met by accident about a year later that he felt able to tell her how he felt. To his joy, Solstice shared his feelings. They married soon after, and spent years travelling together, earning a living as herbalists and healers.
Later, they returned to Hogwarts, living in a small cottage in the surrounding hills. Jack taught Astronomy and filled in for other subjects when the teachers were absent. Solstice assisted in the greenhouses although she never taught.
Early Life
In the spring of 1984 Josh and his twin Brandon were born. The boys were born on different days, Brandon just before midnight on February 27, and Josh just after midnight on February 28. Before long, Jack and Solstice discovered that Josh is a Secondary Elemental. In due course, both boys became students at Hogwarts. Josh had been terrified of being sorted into Slytherin, but ended up in Gryffindor like his brother and parents. The twins had a very warm, loving upbringing.
Josh and Brandon as children
At school, Josh was mostly quiet and studious, although he occasionally displayed a violent temper. He is still quiet, and mostly controls his temper, but on the very rare occasions when he loses it, he can be quite frightening. Josh’s strongest subject was Arithmancy, but he also excelled in Potions and Herbology. Overall he was a very good student. His weak point was DADA, but his teachers always felt it was a case of “won’t not can’t”. Although he was quite adept at the subject when he put his mind to it, he seemed to shy away from the practical side.
Personal Life
After leaving school, Josh focused on his career, achieving fame after publishing several very successful books on arithmancy. His only serious relationship was with Eliisa Sangrey, though she had a habit of disappearing for months at a time, then showing up expecting Josh to welcome her back - which he did. With no children of his own, Josh became very close to his niece, Beth, and when Brandon's son arrived, he named him Joshua, in honour of his twin.
A chance meeting with Kildara Merope Snape, in the Raven's Claw, changed Josh's life. When Kildara showed him her Dark Mark, and told him about being in Azkaban, he impulsively admitted to her the bizarre secret that he has never told anyone - he and his twin have different fathers, and Josh's biological father is none other than the infamous Lucius Malfoy, a fact that has haunted him since he was eleven years old, when he learnt the truth:Josh's mother, Solstice, was abducted by Malfoy, and placed under a geas (binding curse). He forced himself on her, but eventually Solstice managed to break his influence over her and escape, unaware that she was already pregnant by him. After her escape, by a rare chance of nature, she then conceived Brandon, and the boys were born as twins, though they are, in fact, only half-brothers.
Josh and Kildara fell in love and got married within a few weeks.
When Josh finally told his twin the truth about his own father, Brandon was shattered, feeling betrayed that none of the family had trusted him with the secret. He went to a bar, got drunk, and began broadcasting the information. Josh's secret was now common knowledge, and the rift between the brothers widened.
Josh and Kildara quickly became parents - their twins were born with the assistance of local midwife/apothecary Storm Vedis, who is also a close friend of both Josh and Kildara. Bethany arrived pink and yelling, but Sabastian appeared, at first to be stillborn, until Storm managed to revive him. Despite his shaky start, the little boy is now thriving, though he, like Josh, is a typical Malfoy in appearance. Little Bethi, as Josh calls her, startled her parents by showing signs that like her father, she is an Elemental.
Not long after the twins were born, Josh's old flame, Eliisa, showed up. A Darksider, she tried to seduce Josh, and when that didn't work, she kidnapped his niece, in an attempt to blackmail him into joining her evil cause. Eliisa used a sleeping potion to keep Beth quiet, but made it too strong - when Josh finally reached Beth, she was dead. Josh lost control, knocked Eliisa down and then used the Unforgivable Avada Kedavra curse on her.
Josh and Brandon
At Beth's funeral, Josh and Brandon were reconciled, but within minutes, Josh was arrested for his use of the AK curse, even though it was later determined that Eliisa died from striking her head on a bench as she fell. Josh was automatically given a life sentence in Azkaban. Brandon's wife, Rhiannon, approached Josh's biological father, Lucius Malfoy - then a senior judge at the Ministry of Magic. Presumably, Malfoy intervened, because Josh was released from Azkaban soon after.
Josh was reunited with his wife and children, but was unbalanced by his experience in Azkaban, and Kildara threw him out after he slept with her cousin, Jezabel. Josh and Dara have reconciled, partly because it was clear that the twins needed him, but also because Dara discovered she was pregnant again. However, the situation was very complicated, because Jezabel was also carrying Josh's child.
Three months after the birth of Josh and Dara's second daughter, Merope, Josh bacame a father yet again. Jezabel gave birth to a boy, whom she named James. Josh persuaded her to allow him to be part of his youngest child's life, but became very angry when he discovered she had given him the last name of her boyfriend, Jason, whom Josh dislikes intensely.
BEHIND THE FACE/SECRETS:
Josh is struggling with a drinking problem. It became an issue during the time he was separated from Dara after sleeping with Jezabel, made worse by the after-effects of his time in Azkaban.
Josh also suffers from terrible nightmares, possibly because his mother was under a geas when he was conceived. Unfortunately, he seems to have passed the tendency to his daughter, Bethi.

RP SAMPLE:
Josh staggered slightly as they apparated into the cellar. He glanced around, taking in the room. He noticed the bottle of pale green liquid on the workbench, but his eyes were drawn instantly to the camp bed, and the motionless figure lying on it.
"Beth?" He was at her side in a moment. For a split second, he felt a surge of relief that she didn't seem to have been harmed. If she'd been roughed up he would have made sure that Eliisa suffered the same way. "Beth?" he said again, leaning over her.
She was so still. It wasn't... natural. He took her hand in his, and shuddered, horrified. Icy cold. As if... He shouted her name, desperately trying to rouse her. No. He was just panicking. Surely she was... He touched her cheek, brushed her hair from her face, called her name again.
No response.
Fighting for control, Josh gently placed two fingers against her throat. Moved them and concentrated. Tried again.
There was no pulse.
For a seemingly endless moment, Josh just looked at Beth's grey, cold face. In a strangled whisper, he said, "You killed her."
Eliisa watched as Josh tried to wake Beth. The mocking smile she had worn faded, as he became increasingly frantic, feeling for the child's pulse. When he spoke, Eliisa felt icy shock wash over her. "No, that potion wasn't strong enough. It was just a sleeping draught...." She suddenly remembered the large dose she'd given her, the extra pinch of vital ingredient she'd added. "This wasn't meant to happen. It was just supposed to make her sleep. You have to believe me, I didn't want to kill her. I wouldn't..." She took a few faltering steps towards the bed, reached to feel Beth's pulse for herself.
Eliisa's words came to Josh through the roar in his head. He was shaking now, the fury rising, like a blinding white light that blotted out everything else. Then Eliisa moved towards them, reaching out. "DON'T TOUCH HER!" he screamed, suddenly rising to his feet, and in the same movement striking out blindly. His fist connected with Eliisa's face so hard that she fell backwards, her head slamming against the edge of the workbench as she went down.
Before Eliisa hit the floor, Josh had pulled his wand from his pocket. He was so angry he could barely breathe, but he dragged in a painful gulp of air, pointed his wand, and shouted,
"AVADA KADAVRA!"
The flash of green light filled the cellar, but for Josh it was blotted out by the surging wave of fury and grief that crashed down on him.
