"You're damned if you don't You're damned if you do You've seen all the signs But you haven't got a clue" This was ridiculous. Lucius Malfoy as HEADMASTER! Victoire's eyes scanned the top of the Gryffindor table for her cousin. Then new little Malfoy family looked terrified (along with everyone else) but their fear seemed more genuine than everyone elses. In fact, Rose looked sick, bouncing her baby girl in her arms, to keep the girl calm. And probably herself.
How did this happen? Uncle Harry shouldn't have let this happen.

---------but you're not a manYOU'RE JUST A MANNEQUIN--------- Ceallach sat in her seat at the head table, sipping a glass of water. Her brown eyes scanned the hall, gauging the reactions of everyone in the room to the shocking news of their new Headmaster. No one was pleased about it. No one. It was preposterous to put Lucius Malfoy, of ALL people, in charge of Hogwarts. He couldn't care less about the place, his staff or the students. This was a power trip... a scare tactic, and no one had any idea what for!
The murmuring continued as they all waited for the 'headmaster's speech. He seemed to be taking his time, like he was soaking up the fear around him. What a horrible person.

At last the sorting was finished, and as the last little Hufflepuff scuttled to their bench, and the stool and hat were whisked away, Lucius stood up and strolled to the lectern. He placed his hand on it, and gazed out at the students.
“I welcome you all back to Hogwarts.” Or at least, he thought to himself, he welcomed all the purebloods... “As you have no doubt realised, I am your new headmaster. Hogwarts has a history of being led by fine and distinguished witches and wizards.” Not to mention its share of crackpots and fools. “It is indeed an honour.” An honour that was all theirs! “There will, of course, be challenges - changes that may be difficult for some to accept.” But there were ways of bringing people round to his viewpoint. “But as the year progresses, I am confident that we will all be working towards the same aims.” Or else! “I wish every student to feel that, should problems arise, they will be able to bring them to me, and see their concerns dealt with promptly and appropriately.” Of course, their ideas of what was appropriate would not necessarily coincide with his own views on the subject... “But now, you are all hungry after your journey.” Let them wait and wonder what was going to change. He raised his hands, and said majestically, “Let the feast begin.”
He paused at the lectern, interested to see their reactions to the first change. As always, the feast magically appeared on their plates. But not every table had the same food. The Slytherin table held its usual spread of delicious dishes. At the Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor tables, however, the choice was not as wide, the food was plainer, and there were more dishes of boiled vegetables than the students would be accustomed to. The difference wasn't screamingly obvious - but there was no doubt that one house had a better feast than the others.
With a faintly malicious smile, Lucius returned to his seat. His wineglass suddenly filled with the finest vintage, and as he reached for it, he let his gaze slide over to that dark-haired young woman he had noticed earlier, his eyes catching hers for a moment; he raised the glass to his lips, the gesture almost a private toast, before he sipped, savouring the rich taste, with a feeling of satisfaction.

"You're damned if you don't You're damned if you do You've seen all the signs But you haven't got a clue" Eugh. Yeah, like it wasn't hard to see past THAT facade. Like he was going to help anyone that didn't share his views. Then, his speech finished and the food appeared on the table. Victoire's eyes widened, looking at the dishes. She looked at the faces of the people at other tables. The Slytherins didn't seem to notice any difference... more than likely there was no difference.
This was ridiculous. Her eyes went back up to the headmaster, who was eyeing one of the teachers. That man was dirty. She glared at the plain food on the table, and reached in to get some of this pitiful dinner.

Cassie had sat through the sorting and the speech in startled silence. She wasn't sure what to think. The new headmaster had, by all accounts been one of the Dark Lord's most trusted minions for a time. But she knew he'd fallen out of favour, and deserted the Death Eaters in the final moments of the battle, in favour of finding his son. Cassie frowned; he'd turned traitor, but she also approved of family unity. After all, she tolerated her aunt and cousin on the grounds that they were related to her, through her father.
When the headmaster finished speaking, and the food appeared, she looked down the table, trying to see Al's face. His father, of course, had opposed everything that Malfoy stood for. But Cassie knew that Al disagreed with his father on most things. How would he feel about the new headmaster.
Her eyes swung back to the staff table, fastening on the headmaster. Whatever else might be true of Lucius Malfoy, he was a pureblood in every sense of the word. And that carried weight with Cassie. She smiled. She approved.
She began to fill her plate with food, then half-turned in her seat, hearing disgruntled muttering from the next table. By the looks of it, they didn't have as good a feast in front of them as the Slytherins. Cassie looked quickly at the headmaster once more, seeing his eyes upon the other three tables, a malicious smirk lurking around his lips. Suddenly Cassie laughed, and turned back to enjoy her food. She had a feeling that this year would be fun.
