After her mother died, Cassie went to live with her aunt and cousin. She is not impressed with the cottage - she'd rather live in town.

Cassie slammed the door of her room, and flung herself on her bed, angrily rubbing the tears from her eyes. She hated living here. No-one understood. Yes, she was looking forward to seeing Al again, but it was nothing romantic. There was something about Al that seemed to set him apart from everyone else. She wasn't sure what it was, but some strange sense told her that there was far more to Al than it seemed. And it had nothing... nothing... to do with him being son of the famous Harry Potter.
Hadn't Al been put into Slytherin, when his entire family were stupid Gryffindors? As for him being a half-blood... hadn't the Dark Lord himself been a halfblood? Even worse that Al, because his father had actually been a muggle. At least Al's muggle blood was several generations back.
Cassie rolled onto her side. If only the Dark Lord hadn't been killed, she'd be among the elite of wizard society; her father had been one of his most faithful supporters, had spent all those years in Azkaban. For a few minutes, Cassie let herself fantasize about what it would have been like, with the Dark Lord in charge, and her father free, raising her himself, without that pathetic woman who, quite frankly, had been no more than a container for his seed, whose importance had been over and done with once she gave birth to Cassie.
Maybe one day, things would change to how they should be. Maybe a new Dark Lord would one day arise, to overthrow the blood traitors, mudbloods and muggle-lovers, and establish a pure wizard society. Cassie was proud to think that she was a pureblood. Her cousin - well, he might be in Slytherin, but surely his father had just been some filthy muggle. If his father had really been Damon Blackthorn, that would be different. Her uncle had been absolutely pureblooded, and had died honourably, fighting for the Dark Lord at the Battle of Hogwarts.
Cassie sighed. Well, it wasn't long till the start of term. Then she'd be back with her friends.
