As you climb past the portrait, you find yourself in the Gryffindor common room. The first thing you notice is that everything is in scarlett and golden colours. You see a various selection of sofas and armchairs, to sit on and tables, for studying. Here are fireplaces, to keep you warm. On one of the walls there is a majestic Gryffindor lion, followed by the words :
Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart.
You can either study here, or relax after a long day of school. Don't forget to glance at the noticeboard every once in a while.

Miles walked into the common room deep in thought and flung himself down on the nearest chair and his school bag on the floor. Hmm...now there has to be a way to get Ivan to help me this time. He had been rather put out that his cousin had told him that he wouldn't help him with finding secret passageways. He leaned down and pulled out his History of Magic book as he plotted out a way to manipulate Ivan to help him and began reading over the chapter he had left off on. Soon he felt his eyes drooping and fell asleep in the chair, the book falling out of his hands and onto the ground.

Lily sighed and entered the common room, honestly after all this time she would get a letter from her father making sure she was alright and that everything was going okay and to remind her that all her family were at school and could help her if she needed it. She stopped muttering under her breath as she saw Miles in his chair asleep. "Miles," she said nudging him slightly. "Miles... Miles wake up a bunch of naked girls just ran up to the boys dorm!"

Miles heard a familiar voice calling him and felt himself being nudged. Opening his eyes he sighed, sat up and said groggily, "If that were true, Lily, Ivan would be telling me and he'd be the first one there Slytherin or not." He stretched and looked at her through sleep filled eyes. "Everything alright? What time is it anyway?"

"No he wouldn't," Lily said with practicality although she couldn't help smiling. She knew Slytherins weren't allowed in any other common room, otherwise she'd go and visit her friends in the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff common rooms. "Unless you told him the password of course." She nodded and looked at him, trying not to giggle at the half asleep expression on his face. "Everything's fine. And it's around 12.30 so considering you weren't here 2 hours ago, you've been asleep for at least an hour. You should be lucky, at least it wasn't James waking you up." Now that would've been hilarious to watch.

Miles hid a smirk as he considered the thought that a giant troll probably wouldn't stop Ivan and said seriously, "You have a point and I would never give him the password. That's all I'd need is him waking me up with a bucket of ice water again." He was sure that Ivan probably knew it but as he hadn't seen him in the common room couldn't say for sure. "Yes, well with your brothers known habits, you're right, I am lucky it was you." He looked around and saw his book on the floor. Bending down he picked it up and stuck it back in his bag, "You wouldn't have happened to see my idiot cousin around anywhere have you?" Though knowing his cousin Miles could probably guess what he was up to. Realizing what time she said he looked at her, "Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

"See there we go, so if I said there were a bunch of naked girls heading up to the boys dorms don't you think you should trust me?" Lily asked, smiling sweetly. "Hmmmm bucket of ice water...." she trailed off as a plan for the holidays began forming in her head. James had been a pig waking her up to catch the train this year so payback was definitely called for. She grinned and nodded, better her than a first year who probably would've been too afraid to do anything. She couldn't believe she was a third year now, this years first years were titchy. "I think I saw him going to the dungeons, so I think he's in his common room," she said trying to remember if she'd seen him afterwards. Hearing his question she looked away, up at the ceiling at the floor, anywhere but at Miles. "It's just potions," she mumbled under her breath.

He shook his head sadly ashamed of having said anything, "Don't think about it Lily. It was a one time thing and he nearly got...well he regretted it since. But knowing how stubborn he is I wouldn't put it past him to try again." He leaned toward her and whispered, "And if you do don't get caught." Miles sighed, "Figures. Wait why were you in the..." He looked towards her and noticed her looking around, "Potions?!" He stood up and shook his head, "Lily, potions is important, it could save your life one day you never know. And whatever you've heard Professor Jensen isn't like the previous Potion Masters." He looked at her sternly, "Now, I don't want to hear you skivving off class again." He couldn't hold onto his stern look and smiled as he sat back down, "Just give it a chance Lily alright. I'll help you if you want me to but you really can't keep skipping Potions." He sat back in the chair, "Well while you're hear maybe you can help me think up a way to get that idiot cousin of mine to help me with something. He told me no and we can't have that."

Lily laughed and shook her head. She had done nothing that bad in the past two years and she wasn't going to start this year, but a bucket of water over James on his bed would be perfect. "It's a bit late for that," she said hearing the regular 'don't think about it' sentance. Hearing the whisper though she smiled and nodded. If anything he'd think it was one of his cousins, because he's sweet thirteen year old sister was too young to commit pranks like that. She was about to answer his question when he figured it out. "It's not..." she trailed off as she remembered that even her dad and Uncle Ron had taken potions all through Hogwarts. "But I.. fine," she said matching his stern look with a sulky one, though as he smiled again she softened hers. Staying mad at people that were just trying to help was hard. "Okay okay," she sighed. "I'll try, but you know if you close your ears, then you won't hear me skiving." She grinned and then sat on the chair next to him. "Ever tried finding out something bad about him and then using it as blackmail?" she asked, speaking the first thing that came into her head. "What do you need him to do anyways?"

Miles smiled as Lily agreed and said cheekily, "I'd have to close my eyes to and if I'm walking I just might run into a wall. Hazardous for my health, you skiving class." He watched as she sat next to him, "Yes, well as brilliant of an idea as that is, I'm afraid I've already thought about that." He sighed and leaned back, "The problem with having a cousin who is chronically afraid of getting into anything is there isn't much to work with to blackmail him. Unless I just want to flaunt his many women in front of his mothers face...hmm...that would be a good idea except my mum would be sure to hear of it as well." He cringed at the thought of having his mother owl him asking what was going on. Knowing her she'd probably send a howler to. He ran his hand threw his hair as he judged what to tell her, "I want him to help me look for something. Secret passageways." And possibly some stuff in the passageways.

Lily giggled, she couldn't help it even though she was meant to be mad at Miles. "Fine if it's hazardous to your health, I won't cut classes. Although you telling me off probably isn't good either." SHe thought for a few moments, Ivan was definitley more cautious than Miles, although Ivan was in Slytherin. "Tell me about it, try having a brother in Slytherin and cousins around all the other houses. Hmmm you could just tell him what you want him to do with you. Yeah mothers aren't the best thing because if they're related then they'll gossip." She knew that one first hand, Aunt Hermoine and her mum would always get together and gossip. "Hmmm I know there's one under the witch statue, though I can't remember which witch statue. It looks like a hag bent over."

But neither is having us lose the house cup this year. That may just kill me if my cousin wins. I'll never hear the end of it if it doesn't." He shook his head with a small laugh, "No, I don't envy you Lily. It wouldn't work to tell him he'd find an excuse not to and knowing him it would be valid and then I have to worry about him telling my mum." He sighed and looked thoughtful, "Yea, I've heard of that one. I'm thinking there are a few down in the dungeons though and since it's Slytherin territory I'm not tempted to go down there to explore without his help."

Rose angrily strode into the Common Room, throwing her book bag down on the sofa, heavily sitting down beside it. The nerve of Professor Jensen! It was one note! ONE! She always contributed in class. She was one of the top students! What's it his business. How dare he read the note too. She was fuming. No doubt her family would have worked out what it was about. now all she had to do was wait for the onslaught. The reasons why she shouldn't go out with Scorpius. He's a Malfoy. Really, to be frank, that would be the only reason they would be able to come up with! Scorpius, it was obvious to anyone, was not like his family. Definately not! Infinately gorgeous, kind ... Rose! She sighed, slamming her back into the back of the sofa. Stupid family feuds!

Lily stepped through the common and watched Rose for a few minutes. She'd all but rushed out of potions and the look on her face was like the one Uncle Ron got when he got mad. "Rose? You okay?" Lily asked walking over to her and sitting on the edge of the sofa, stroking her arm softly. There had been no reason for Professor Jensen to get mad or to even really read the note. Just like there was no reason for Albus or Hugo to know why she was writing to Scorpius; questions she'd managed to shake off before coming up here.

Rose looked up as Lily sat beside her. "Oh. Hey Lils. I'm furious, to be honest. The nerve of the man! No right. He had no right to read that note! Nor get mad! It was one note! Wasn't like we'd been passing notes all lesson!" she fumed. She felt bad for dumping this all on her younger cousin, but she couldn't stop now. It was like word-vomit. "And the family's going to want to know why now. It's none of their business really. The parents don't need to know how i feel about Scorpius..." Then she stopped, looking up at Lily with wide eyes. Now she'd said too much. She didn't even really know if she had feelings for Scorpius, to be honest.
